NO KARDASHIANS WERE ALLOWED AT PRINCE'S MASSIVE NEW GIRL PARTY.

Whether he was on stage or on set, Prince always ran the show.New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel can attest to that: The legendary singer guest-starred on the show in the Season 3 episode appropriately titled “Prince.”

In the episode, Jess Day (Deschanel) and her BFF Cece Parekh (Hannah Simone) score an invite to a glamorous party at Prince’s mansion. There, they rub elbows with plenty of celebs, except for one notable family: the Kardashians. This was no accident, as Deschanel revealed on Conan Monday night (May 9).

“They [the Kardashians] had kindly come on to shoot a little kind of cameo part where they were at Prince’s party,” Deschanel explained. “I get there the day that Prince is supposed to arrive and … I walk outside and she [the production assistant] has a bonfire.

She’s burning all the scripts and the call sheets. And it turns out that someone from Prince’s camp said, ‘Who are the celebrities? I hope it’s not a Kardashian.’”

Uh-oh. Kris Jenner and Khloé Kardashian had already filmed their cameos, Deschanel said, but their parts never aired. “I felt so bad because obviously everyone had gone out of their way to be there on that day, but Prince was running the show.”

As for how Prince ended up on New Girl in the first place, that also happened at his request: His manager reportedly emailed Deschanel on his behalf requesting a cameo. And let’s be real — what Prince wants, Prince gets.

“He spent a lifetime cultivating mystique,” Deschanel continued. “I was floored, and I’m a huge Prince fan, but I was definitely more than surprised. I didn’t picture him watching a sitcom, let alone my sitcom.”

That was Prince for ya — always full of surprises.
